Co-writing songs is a great way for
lyricists to team up with music writers
and earn
songwriting royalties.  Writing
good lyrics with hit potential is a unique
talent, and when that talent is combined
with the skill of a music writer, a
potential hit song is created. Thats why
the music industry has always revolved
around
lyricists and songwriters.  But
writing lyrics, especially good lyrics, is
more difficult than most people think.
That’s why lyricists are so highly-valued
in the music industry, and why some
songwriters specialize in writing lyrics.

Not all
songwriters are good lyricists,
which is why many singers, musicians
and music producers bring in talented
lyricists to write the lyrics for some of
their songs. Writing good lyrics is a rare
talent in today's
songwriting market,
but it's absolutely essential if you want
to
earn money writing songs.

So how do lyricists turn their song lyrics
into complete songs?  One of the more
common ways is co-writing.
Co-writing
a song is when a musician brings in a
lyricist to
write lyrics for their music, or
when a lyricist brings in a musician or a
music producer to create and record
music for their lyrics.

Copyrighting Your Songs and Lyrics is
easy when you co-write a song,  as the
copyright forms specifically ask who
wrote the lyrics & who wrote the music.
When you co-write a song and the song
is
published, the co-writers generally
share the
songwriting royalties 50-50,
with the lyricist and the music writer
(composer) each earning 50% of the
total earned
songwriting royalties.  A
song has to be published in order to
earn royalties,  which is why the song
publishing process is essential to any
songwriting success.

how to go about
getting your songs
and lyrics published.
